KEY ACHIEVEMENTS AND PROJECTS

  1. THE RECENT NATIONAL AIDS INDICATOR AND IMPACT SURVEY - puts the State HIV prevalence at 3.8% as against the value of 15.2% recorded in 2012. There has been no stock out of drugs in the last 5 years for people living with HIV/AIDS in the State.
  2. THE MALARIA PREVALENCE - PREVALENCE in the State is lower than national average whilst Tuberculosis case finding effort has been strategically intensified.
  3. OUTBREAKS AND CONTROL EFFORTS - The State now has a functional physical public Health Emergency Operations Centre in the Ministry of Health designated for the coordination, mitigation and response to infectious disease outbreak. So far, outbreaks of monkey pox, Lassa fever, yellow fever and cluster of meningitis cases in the State has been effectively contained.
  4. Saving One Million Lives Program for Results (SOML PforR) - an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Health supported by the World Bank is a programme aimed at improving the lives of mothers and children in Nigeria. The Implementation of the programme required the submission of a Rivers State SOML PforR plan which has been submitted and the transfer of the initial funds of US$1,500,000.00 (One Million five hundred thousand US dollars) from Dollar account to Ministry of Health CBN Naira account which is presently in progress. These funds are being used for the improvement of the Health status/indices in mothers and children.
  5. Saving One Million Lives Program for Results (SOML PforR) - also had first work plan retreat for 2019 on Thursday 2nd May to Saturday 4th May, 2019. The National SOML PforR Program Manager and other representative from the Federal Ministry of Health were present.
  6. Saving One Million Lives Program for Results (SOML PforR) - On the 8th January, 2019 Rivers State was handed a cheque of 960,000 dollars as funds won from the Saving One Million Lives Program for Results (SOML PforR) at the State House Abuja by the Hon. Udo Udoma, who represented His Excellency the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria during the dissemination meeting of the National Strategic Health Development Plan II.
  7. The Ministry of Health in collaboration with Clinton Health Initiative (CHAI) - developed the 2017 District Health Information Data Fact Sheet.
  8. The Rivers State Strategic Health Development Plan II (SSHDP II) - is ready for dissemination and implementation. This is a 5 year Plan for 2018-2022.
